🌈 True Colours — Labradorite Allyship Bracelet

Some stones keep their secrets until the light is right.

Labradorite looks like a quiet, dark stone — until it doesn't. Then it blazes. Electric blue. Forest green. Gold. Violet. Copper. Every colour of the spectrum, hidden inside a single stone, revealing themselves differently depending on the light, the angle, and the eye of the person looking.

I couldn't think of a better stone to wear in support of the people I love.

I designed True Colours because I wanted to wear it myself. Because I have dear friends and loved ones whose rights are continually threatened or stripped away, and I want them to know — clearly, visibly, and without qualification — that they are seen, loved, and supported. This is a bracelet for everyone in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and for every ally who wants to carry that solidarity on their wrist every single day — not just in June, not just when it's convenient, but always.

Labradorite was always going to be this stone. It is one of my absolute favourites, it is tied to Canada through its very name, and it contains every colour of the spectrum without ever looking like a rainbow. It is subtle and spectacular at once. It is different to every eye. It is, in other words, exactly right.

Worn alone, True Colours is a statement. Stacked, it is armour.

✨ The Design Details

Centrepiece

• 5 Grade A hand-faceted freeform labradorite beads (8x12mm–10x14mm), side-drilled — every bead is individually cut, which means every bead is unique. The shapes are organic and intentional, each one catching and refracting light in its own way.
  
  
• A black spinel irregular rondelles (4x6mm) separating the focal beads — chosen for protection, grounding, and the way their deep black makes the labradorite flash even more dramatic.

The Band

• Dark red labradorite faceted rondelles (5x7mm, AA Grade) — a warmer, richer expression of the same stone, adding depth and complexity to the colour story.
  
  
• Natural labradorite faceted rondelles (3x5mm) — the quieter, more classic labradorite, bridging the palette throughout the band.
  
  
• Sustainably harvested horn rounds (6mm) — ethically sourced, warm in tone, grounding the piece in the natural world.
  
  
• Shiny silver saucer spacers (4mm) — cool, crisp, and catching light between every bead.

🌟 A Note on These Stones

No two labradorite beads are alike. The flash you see — that iridescent spectral shimmer called labradorescence — is caused by light refracting between microscopic layers within the stone. What you see depends entirely on how the light hits it, and how you're looking. Some beads will blaze blue. Others will flash green or gold or violet. Every True Colours bracelet is genuinely one of a kind.

The dark red labradorite in the band is a lesser-known variety of the same stone family — warmer and more earthbound than its flashier counterpart, it adds a richness and visual complexity that rewards a closer look. Much like the people this bracelet was made to honour.
