Honey Bee Fierce - Bumblebee Jasper Bracelet

$49.00

Honey Bee Fierce is a single-stretch bracelet made from Bumblebee Jasper and silver alloy spacers. It features a Tierra Cast honey bee charm completing the look.

I dove headfirst into the world of gemstone jewelry-making only a few years ago after visiting a Rock and Gem show in Nova Scotia. One of the specimens that caught my eye was Bumblebee Jasper, and it was eye-wateringly expensive. I left it behind but kicked myself for months afterward.

Fast forward to earlier this summer, and my favourite gemstone bead company is featuring Bumblee Jasper Beads. I didn't pass them up this time - and also learned why these beauties are expensive and rare. This mineral was only discovered in the 1990s, at the base of a volcano in Indonesia. It has not been found anywhere else in the world.

If you look up Bumblebee Jasper, you will also see mention of its toxicity. It gets its bold yellow colour from sulfur and arsenic. Polished Bumblebee is safe to wear. I would recommend keeping it away from pets and small children to avoid ingesting it. As long as you don't eat the beads, you're safe to Bee Fierce.

NOTE: These bracelets are sold individually. Multiples are only shown for size and variation.

    ABOUT THE GEMSTONES:

Bumblebee Jasper – With its stripes of bright yellow, white, and black, it's not hard to guess how Bumblebee Jasper got its name. However, it isn't truly a Jasper, but a complex calcium carbonate mineral that was only discovered in the 1990s. It's found only in West Java, Indonesia, and gets many of its properties from volcanic activity. The bold colours in this unique gem will give you a 'buzz' whenever you look at them.
