Hematite – This important component of iron is one of the most abundant minerals on earth. Its name comes from the Greek word for blood, haima, and was associated with the god of war, Mars. Early warriors from Greece, Rome, and the indigenous populations of North America used crushed hematite as protection and ‘war paint.’ This highly metallic stone is a great reminder to ground yourself and remain determined and focused on your goals.
