Howlite and Black Spinel pair with silver accents to form these handmade dangle stud earrings.

My Flower Power earring design began with the faceted flower-shaped Howlite, one of my favourite stones found here in Canada. I wanted to draw on the classic black and white colour palette. I love the deep shine of faceted Spinel and the extra bit of sparkle they add to the earrings. I completed the look with silver filigree studs, that have a light arabesque vibe.

These earrings measure roughly 5cm (2in) from top to bottom

Howlite - This is one of my favourite gemstones to work with and was originally discovered in Nova Scotia, Canada (one of several of my 'homes'). Spinel – This stone of many colours is one of August’s three birthstones and is also known as the Great Imposter, as red spinel was long mistaken for rubies by monarchs in their crown jewels. Spinel comes in many other colors than red, though, and it’s black Spinel that has won my heart with its mirror ball shine.
